At home

A completely unique experience

Your backyard is the best place to learn how to swim.

Being in a familiar environment is reassuring for all types of swimmers, whether they're nervous or already comfortable in the pool. Add a qualified swimming instructor who respects each child's pace — and you get the winning formula for learning to swim.

Aquado is the leader in at-home swimming lessons in Quebec. Since 2015, our trusted team strives to offer an experience tailored to each client's needs.

Swim independently in one summer

Learning to swim should take weeks, not years. We recommend that beginner swimmers over 3 years old take 8 at-home swimming lessons during the summer.

In one summer, our swimmers can :
  • can overcome a fear of water with confidence and at their own pace
  • can learn to swim across their pool unassisted and get out safely
  • develop a safe and positive relationship with water

One-on-One formula

Aquado offers private lessons, meaning one swimmer at a time. This formula allows each swimmer to build a special relationship with their instructor, learn at their own pace and receive tailored lessons.

Our swimming lessons are designed to :
  • learn to swim quickly
  • master and refine swimming strokes: crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke and butterfly
  • train and practice

FAQ

At what age can I register my child?

close

You can register your child with Aquado from as young as 6 months! It's the perfect opportunity to introduce your baby to water at a young age so they develop comfort in the water. From around age 3, children typically have the motor skills needed to learn to swim on their own and then master the different swimming strokes. If you register multiple children, they will have their private lessons one after another in your pool.

Do you offer the Lifesaving Society's Swim to Survive program?

close

Yes! Aquado was the first company in Quebec to offer the Parent and Child, Preschool, Swimmer and Junior Lifeguard programs from the Quebec Lifesaving Society directly in residential pools (above-ground and in-ground). This is greatly appreciated by families, as it makes the transition back to group lessons in winter easier: children keep their progress booklet and continue in the same program at the same level.

What happens when the weather isn't safe?

close

During light rain, at-home swimming lessons can continue without any issue. However, when the weather is unsafe for swimming (thunderstorms, heavy rain, extreme cold), our certified instructors offer an out-of-water lesson focused on water safety, first aid and rescue, adapted to the swimmer's age. It's a unique added value at Aquado!

What if I don't have a pool at home?

close

During the summer, our instructors travel to homes only, meaning to our clients' backyards or their condo pool. Many families who don't have a pool go to grandparents' or friends' homes to use their pool. It's a practical and very popular solution!

How many swimming lessons does my child need to learn to swim?

close

Every child progresses at their own pace, but we recommend that beginner swimmers over 2 years old take a package of 8 at-home swimming lessons during the summer. With Aquado's one-on-one private formula, the majority of children aged 3 and up learn to swim in a single summer. For younger children (6 months to 2 years), a 4 to 6 lesson package provides excellent water familiarization.

How much do private at-home swimming lessons cost?

close

Aquado offers packages of 4, 6 or 8 private at-home swimming lessons. Prices vary based on the number of swimmers registered (1 to 4 children per family). Visit our Rates page for detailed pricing, or contact us at (514) 432-7686 for a personalized quote.

How long is an at-home swimming lesson?

close

An Aquado swimming lesson is planned for 30 minutes per child but can be extended if needed. Lessons for children under 2 always last 30 minutes, while lessons for older children can be 45 or 60 minutes long. This duration is optimal for maintaining attention and maximizing learning in a private setting.

Are your swimming instructors certified?

close

Absolutely! All Aquado instructors are certified by the Quebec Lifesaving Society and hold their Swimming Instructor, National Lifeguard and First Aid certifications. They also receive ongoing internal training at Aquado to ensure a safe and high-quality learning experience.

What are the advantages of private at-home swimming lessons compared to group lessons?
